Chicago Man Accused Of Shooting At Pedestrians In Beach Park
After Lake County authorities arrested him, he was taken to the Chicago Police Department for new charges of possessing a stolen firearm.
BEACH PARK, IL β Members of the Lake County Sheriff's office Warrants Team and the U.S. Marshals Service - Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force (USMS-GLRFTF) arrested a Chicago man Wednesday as the result of an investigation into a March incident involving shots fired at pedestrians in Beach Park. According to a news release from the sheriff's office, 20-year-old Demarcus Griffin, from the 9200 block of South Kingston Avenue in Chicago, was wanted on a $500,000 arrest warrant for four counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, stemming from the March 1 incident in the 39100 block of North Lewis Avenue in Beach Park. According to the sheriff's office, Griffin is accused of shooting at three people walking southbound on Lewis Avenue, however no one was hit by the gunshots.
During the investigation, warrants team members learned Griffin was now living at an apartment in the 9200 block of South Kingston Avenue, and on Wednesday found him inside his apartment, and arrested him, according to the news release. The sheriff's office added that Griffin had a stolen firearm and a 50-round drum magazine for the gun.
Griffin was taken to the Chicago Police Department for the new charges of possessing a stolen firearm, and remains at the Cook County Jail for those new charges, according to the sheriff's office.
