Coronavirus In IL: Annual Lake County Police Memorial Postponed

The postponement due to the coronavirus 'is a step we can take to avoid spreading COVID-19 at a large gathering,' Sheriff Idleburg said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” The Lake County Sheriff's office announced they're postponing the Annual Lake County Police Memorial scheduled next month due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. In a news release, the sheriff's office said the annual event will be postponed until late summer or early fall.

β€œWhile it is disappointing we have to postpone the Annual Lake County Police Memorial, it is a step we can take to avoid spreading COVID-19 at a large gathering," Sheriff John Idleburg said, in the news release. "Those killed in the line-of-duty deserve our respect, gratitude, and recognition, so we will announce a new date for late summer or early fall.”

On Monday, the Lake County Health Department said the updated total number of coronavirus cases in Lake County is 2,224, including 80 deaths.
