Coronavirus In IL: Giving Tuesday Now In Lake County

Nonprofit organizations and businesses in Lake County want community members to know about Giving Tuesday Now, happening May 5.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” Local businesses and organizations throughout Lake County are participating in Giving Tuesday Now on May 5 due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to the global initiative's website, #GivingTuesdayNow is a new worldwide day of giving and unity happening Tuesday, May 5, in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec. 1, 2020 Giving Tuesday "as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19."

Located at 735 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville, Improv Playhouse encourages community members to "give a pinch of extra love to the world around you," and adds that those with the opportunity to give to consider participating in the organization's GoFundMe campaign for Giving Tuesday Now.

"We at Improv Playhouse are working to keep our staff employed, and to keep our day to day operational needs met," according to a news release sent to Patch from the organization. "We are working to create fresh and happy experiences for our students of all ages, with Zoom class content for youth and adults, with performance and collaboration opportunities for quarantine life and beyond, and with innovative distance enrichment to partner with local libraries, schools, and arts organizations."

Improv Playhouse is asking for small business relief, and has a $10,000 goal. The group continues to offer partial and full scholarships for class, camp, and event participation, according to the news release. "We are devoted to programming that will monitor and track all state and federal health guidelines to create safe, connected, and adaptable adventures in the arts. We vow to forge unique new content for all of our community partners."

IPCOE is classified as a public charity and is tax exempt under section 501(c)(3).

Nicasa Behavioral Health Services:

Located at 31979 N. Fish Lake Road in Round Lake, Nicasa is a not-for-profit behavioral health services organization that is building brighter futures for vulnerable and at-risk children, adults, and families in Lake County and northern Illinois, its website states.

What your donations will cover:

$50 to cover one telehealth individual session for individuals who lost their job, insurance or cannot obtain coverage; $100 to cover an order-in meal for 20 residents living at Bridge House, or adult residential recovery halfway house; $150 to create hygiene packages for homeless adults and families; $200 to cover 4 telehealth group sessions or individuals in need of substance abuse and mental health treatment; $500 helps with technology costs to upgrade hardware and software for high-quality and confidential telehealth services; $1,000 supports the HUGS (Handling Uncertainty with Guidance and Support) Line that offers free emotional help and recovery support.

You may also select any amount of your choice to support substance abuse, mental health, problem gambling, family advocacy, parent support and more.

In addition, according to Nicasa's website, the organizations states, "As Nicasa Behavioral Health Services remains open as an essential provider, we are accommodating to the needs of individuals and families who are fearful, exposed, and/or sick. In order to streamline our telehealth services, we are in an immediate need for 40 NEW LAPTOPS with video and audio capabilities (must have a camera and internal microphone). This will assist in individual and group service provision, as well to help some of our specialty programming (e.g. Bridge House and problem gambling) access services online that are no longer able to come to them in person (e.g. AA meetings and more). If you have the ability to donate funds, a new laptop, or are able to connect with an entity that can donate these items, please contact the Director of Philanthropy, Vicky Tello, LSW, at vtello@nicasa.org. Our House of Hope Rescue:

An all volunteer, community-based Il. 501(c)3 state license non profit animal welfare organization specializing in the medical, behavioral and the emotional rehabilitation of animals. The rescue is located at 1840 Industrial Drive, Suite 330 in Libertyville.

"We rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals," Lisa Krinninger, director of the organization. told Patch. "Our pet food pantry services all pet owners in need in our Lake County Community. 100 (SIC) percent of donations to Our House of Hope benefit our medical fund for ongoing care of our animals and to our pet food pantry.
