Drone Used To Find Missing Man With Dementia In Lake County
The quick response by a suburban firefighter is being credited with helping bring the 67-year-old man with dementia to safety.

ROUND LAKE, IL — Police in Lake County worked quickly Tuesday afternoon to find a man who was reported missing Wednesday afternoon.
Aleksandr Nersesov, who has dementia, was reported missing at about 12 p.m. He was last seen in the area of Arden Lane in Round Lake. Officials said he was wearing grey sweatpants, boots and a black sweater at the time he went missing and "may be attracted to water," according to a post on the Round Lake Police Department Facebook page.

The Round Lake Police Department requested assistance from the Search and Rescue Strike Team, which responded with multiple chiefs, drones, police dogs and UTVs to aid in the search.

A Niles Fire Department paramedic and firefighter lived near the area where the search was underway and was able to quickly respond and deploy a drone, which, in 20 minutes, picked up a "heat signature in a field." That heat signature ended up being the missing man, according to a post on the K9/Drone Search and Rescue Strike Team Facebook page.
"The drone pilot was able to direct police officers to the subject who was found cold, but in good condition," according to the Facebook post.
