Early Release Days Scheduled For Woodland D50 Due To Heat
Woodland School District 50 students will be getting out of school early on Wednesday and Thursday.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Woodland School District 50 students will be released from school early on Wednesday and Thursday due to the excessive heat.
Primary school students will be released at 10:40 a.m. both days while elementary school students will end their school days at 10:50 a.m. Middle school students will wrap up at 11:35 a.m. and intermediate school students will be done at 12:20 p.m., Robert Machak, superintendent for Woodland D50, wrote in a letter to parents.
"This decision was made after the careful evaluation of our longest bus routes, and the safety of the drivers and students. Some students with a longer route may be on the bus for up to 45 minutes, and our drivers will be on their buses for more than two hours," according to Machak. "We believe an early dismissal will give our students the opportunity to start the school year strong, while still keeping everyone safe in this extreme heat."
