Congratulations to Tanner Hermes, Grayslake Central High School, who is the winner of a new car from Operation Click.
This is GCHS’s second year participating in Operation Click, which is “a program designed to reduce teen fatalities and injuries from motor vehicle crashes by developing safe driving habits through education and positive reinforcement.”
At the start of each school year, students sign a contract agreeing to practice safe driving habits behind the wheel or as a passenger in a vehicle. Positive reinforcements are used throughout the school year to reward students for engaging in safe behaviors and reminders are visible within the school regarding safe practices or dangers associated with driving. Four random safety belt checks are also administered during the school year to check for compliance with contract rules and evaluate program effectiveness.

Tanner was one of 12 finalists competing to win the car, including students from Libertyville, Vernon Hills, Stevenson, Grayslake North and Mundelein High School. Two finalists are drawn at random from participating schools if safety belt compliance rates are an average 95% or above.
Congrats to Tanner and great job GCHS students for your participation in an incredible program!
