Grayslake Central, North Athletes Compete in State Track Meet

Grayslake Central and Grayslake North athletes competed at the state track and field meet May 16-18.

Grayslake Central ranked 36th in the state.

Here's a look at how Grayslake Central athletes performed in various events in the state finals, according to the IHSA website:

• Senior Cara Engel, 8th place, pole vault
• Senior Claire Haggerty, 4th place, 1600-meter run
• Senior Elsie Rehberg, 11th place, 1600-meter run

Grayslake North freshman Allie O'Connell, who took first place in the 100-meter high hurdles at the Palatine Sectional, came in seventh in the preliminaries at state. Only the top three finishers qualified for the state finals.
