Human Trafficking Candlelight Vigil Held In Lake County

LAKE COUNTY, IL —A Safe Place and the College of Lake County will come together to host a Human Trafficking Candle Lighting Vigil next week.

The vigil will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Jan. 18 at the College of Lake County, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake. The event is meant to shed light on the issue of human trafficking, raise awareness, and stand in solidarity with survivors.

"A Safe Place," an organization committed to supporting victims of domestic violence and human trafficking, collaborates with the College of Lake County to create a space where the community can unite in the fight against human trafficking. This candle lighting vigil serves as a symbol of hope, remembrance, and advocacy, according to a Facebook post regarding the event.

The event will feature insightful speakers, survivors sharing their stories and professionals providing valuable information on human trafficking prevention and support. As attendees gather, they will have the opportunity to light candles in honor of survivors and in memory of those affected by this devastating crime.

"The vigil is not only a solemn remembrance but also a call to action. By participating in this event, community members contribute to a collective effort to raise awareness and promote education surrounding human trafficking.
