K-9 Dax Tracks Down Wanted Man, Helps Recover Gun
Lake County Sheriff's Canine Dax helped recover a gun in Barrington and find a man wanted for stealing a car in Mundelein.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Lake County Sheriff’s Canine Dax helped recover a gun in Barrington and find a man wanted for stealing a car in Mundelein during separate incidents over the weekend. Dax and his handler Deputy John Forlenza were called around 10:20 p.m. Saturday to the area of Metra train station in Barrington.
A belligerent man exited a train, brandished a firearm and threatened people, before firing it and fleeing the scene. No one was injured.

Officers arrested the man and Dax located the firearm in a bush that the suspect discarded before being apprehended, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s office.
A few hours later around 2 a.m. Sunday, the duo responded to the area of Shaddle Avenue and Countryside Highway in Mundelein for a person who fled from a stolen vehicle.

Dax started a track and located the offender about one mile away where they were hiding in the backyard of a residence, the sheriff’s office said.
