ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL -- The Kohl Children’s Pop-Up Museum will be in Round Lake Beach through May 25. The popular children’s museum brought it’s pop-up museum to Waukegan through March 23 before moving its exhibits on to Round Lake Beach. The exhibit, which is being brought to under-resourced areas, opened at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 N. Civic Center Way, on April 2.

The exhibit, which is free, is open from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., according to a news release from the Kohl’s Children’s Museum.

The pop-up museum includes high-quality interactive elements including:
  • Imagination Playground: an exploration of construction using oversize building blocks
  • Airmazing: experimentation with air flow using wind tubes and Bernoulli blowers
  • Animal Secrets: a naturalist’s tent with real field equipment which children can explore the world of wildlife
  • Puppet Theatre: three stations with hand, shadow, and stick figure puppets
  • An art studio and a reading nook.
The museum is also open for pre-scheduled field trips. For information about booking a free Pop-Up field trip, contact Patrick Hogan at phogan@kcmgc.org.
