Public Dashboards Show Suicide, Overdose Deaths In Lake County
Both dashboards incorporate data from 2020 and will be updated on a weekly basis as investigatory information is available.

LAKE COUNTY, IL β The Lake County Coroner's Office has launched new data dashboards that track trends on overdose deaths and suicides throughout Lake County.
Both dashboards incorporate data from 2020 and will be updated on a weekly basis as investigatory information is available, according to a news release from the coroner's office. Data on both dashboards can be queried by year and city or town and additionally include a visual mapping feature.
βWe feel it is important that our residents and partner agencies have data that is accurate, readily available, and in as close to real-time as possible as it relates to death trends throughout our county. This electronic presentation will help better illustrate where in the county we need to concentrate our efforts regarding preventable deaths,β said Lake County Coroner Jennifer Banek.

Banek announced the release of the two data dashboards earlier this month. The dashboards have been in the development process for the last six months in conjunction with Lake County Geographic Information System (GIS), according to a news release from the coroner's office.
The overdose and suicide dashboards are the first two to be released. Plans are in place to release a third dashboard focusing on homicide data in the coming weeks, officials said.
