Lake Co. Deputy Helps Deliver Baby
The deputy arrived at the home of an area woman who went into labor and couldn't make it to the hospital. The baby was born minutes later.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy came to the aid of a pregnant woman who went into labor at her home early Thursday. The woman’s boyfriend, a Lake Villa-area man, called authorities at about 2:16 a.m. to report the woman’s water had broken, and she was experiencing contractions that were very close together, according to the Daily Herald. Deputy Lorne White arrived eight minutes later and, along with the child’s father, assisted in the birth.
And, needless to say, both were relieved when paramedics arrived right as the baby was being delivered, Sgt. Chris Covelli told the Daily Herald.
The baby was 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measures 20.5 inches. The couple named him Benjamin Johnstone Crawford, and both mom and baby are doing well, authorities said.
