After Punching Neighbor, Woman Steals Flag, Runs Down Road: Police
Kristi B. Tyler now faces aggravated battery charges in connection with the "unprovoked attack" near Lake Villa last week, police said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL βA 60-year-oldLake County woman accused of attacking her 72-year-old neighbor before stealing a U.S. flag that was attached to the side of the neighbor's house and running down the street with it now faces charges, police said.
Kristi B. Tyler, 53, of the 37700 block of North Delaby Road in unincorporated Lake Villa, has been charged with aggravated battery to a victim over the age of 60, aggravated battery - causing bodily harm and aggravated battery in a public place in connection with the May 1 incident, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responded to the reported attack on North Delaby Road at about 3:30 p.m. on May 1, police said. When they arrived at the scene police found the neighbor, who sustained a serious knee injury and cuts to the face, according to the news release.

Police learned Tyler's neighbor, a 72-year-old woman, was standing outside her home when Tyler charged at her and punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground, according to the news release. The attack was unprovoked, police said.
Tyler then took the U.S. flag, which was affixed to the side of the woman's home, and ran down the street with it, according to the news release.

Tyler was taken into custody and remains behind bars as of Tuesday morning.
