Lake Villa Father Bites Baby Girl For 'Not Sleeping': Sheriff
Lake County Sheriff's Office Detectives found what looked like bite marks and bruises on the child's face and arms during an investigation.

LAKE VILLA TOWNSHIP, IL — A Lake Villa Township man is being charged with aggravated battery to a child after an investigation revealed he bit his 10-month-old daughter because he was angry she wouldn't fall asleep, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office. Detectives from the Lake County Sheriff's Office received a notice from the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) Monday regarding possible child abuse at a home in the 38800 block of North Cedar Crest Drive in Lake Villa Township, according to a release from the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said their detectives launched an immediate investigation and went to the home. Detectives met with a family member and evaluated child, and found what looked like bite marks and bruises on her face and arms, according to the sheriff's office.
Further investigation revealed the girl's father, 31-year-old Daniel K. Martin, of the 38800 block of North Cedar Crest Drive, Lake Villa Township, was responsible for biting the child out of anger, according to a release.

Martin was arrested on accusations he bit the child and was then charged with felony aggravated battery to a child and two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery, according to the sheriff's office. He remains in the Lake County Jail on $50,000 bail and his next court date is scheduled for March 18.
