Man Shot Dog In Head, Dumped Body In Trash: Fox Lake Police
According to report, Fox Lake police found the dog's body in the garbage after man reportedly shot it in his basement.

FOX LAKE, IL — A Wisconsin man has been arrested stemming from accusations he shot and killed his dog in his Fox Lake home on Feb. 14, WLS reported. According to the news report, Wesley Anderson, 38, of Genoa City, Wisconsin, was charged with animal cruelty following reports he shot his doberman pinscher in the head in the basement of a Fox Lake home in the 300 block of Washington Street, before wrapping the dog in plastic and dumping its body in the garbage.
Fox Lake Police Department Chief Jimmy Lee said the man had been splitting time between his homes in Fox Lake and Wisconsin, WLS reported.
Fox Lake police received a 911 call from a person who said Anderson shot and killed the dog on Feb. 14, and also said Anderson wrapped the animal in plastic and a blanket before throwing the body away, according to authorities. Police said officers recovered the dog's body in the garbage on Feb. 19, in addition to three handguns, shell casings and evidence showing the dog was shot in the basement, authorities say.

Anderson was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, in addition to aggravated cruelty to animals, Assistant Lake County State's Attorney Stephen Scheller said Tuesday, according to WLS. Anderson was released from jail after posting $50,000 bail and is due in court on March 12. While free on bond, Anderson is ordered not to own animals, have firearms, take drugs or drink alcohol.
Anderson's next hearing is March 12. If convicted, he would face up to three years in prison.
