Man Ejected From SUV In Avon Township Crash: Lake Co. Sheriff

According to the sheriff's office, three vehicles were involved in crash stemming from SUV running red light.

AVON TOWNSHIP, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office said deputies were sent to Rollins Road and Route 45 in Avon Township Friday at 6:40 p.m. for a crash with injuries. According to the sheriff's office, deputies arrived at the scene and found three vehicles with major damage, stemming from a driver who ignored a red light.

A preliminary investigation revealed a 22-year-old Round Lake Beach man was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Rollins Road and ignored the red traffic light at Rollins Road and Route 45, driving into the intersection and hitting a northbound 2005 Honda Accord, driven by a 33-year-old Grayslake man, the sheriff's office reported.

The Honda then hit a 2013 Subaru Legacy driven by a 54-year-old man from Third Lake, the sheriff's office said.

According to the sheriff's office, the driver of the Chevrolet was ejected from the SUV and was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver and a 16-year-old female passenger in the Subaru weren't injured, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit, according to the sheriff's office.
