Man Found Dead In Street, Dragged By Vehicle ID'd

The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified the 31-year-old Gurnee man as Luis Guzman.

GURNEE, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a 31-year-old Gurnee man who died after being dragged by a vehicle early Monday in Gurnee.

Luis Guzman, 31, was found unresponsive at the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Estes Street at about 3:40 a.m. Monday, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the incident revealed the man lived in the 3800 block of Dorchester Avenue and was last seen by his wife around 3 a.m. Monday. At that time, he told his wife he was going outside to smoke, according to authorities.

Police are working to gather information and evidence to determine the circumstances surrounding the Guzman's death, according to the news release.

The Lake County Coroner's Office is not releasing preliminary results from Guzman's autopsy since his death is an "active investigation," officials said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
