LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called Friday morning to Route 12 Bar & Grill in the 37400 block of North Route 12, Spring Grove, for a burglar alarm. According to the sheriff's office, deputies arrived and started checking around the outside of the building, and one of the sheriff's deputies found a closed door with "fresh pry marks," indicating someone tried to force entry into the business. Believing a burglar was inside the building, the sheriff's office said a deputy called for more units to respond.

The sheriff's office said a man, now identified as 29-year-old James M. Kennebeck, of the 400 block of Rand Drive, McHenry, came out from the business and was ordered to stop by a sheriff's deputy. However, Kennebeck refused and left the scene before a sheriff's deputy caught him after a short chase.

According to the sheriff's office, Kennebeck had several stolen bottles of alcohol from the business, and one of the bottles hidden in his pants shattered and cut him on the leg when he left the scene. He was evaluated by paramedics, the sheriff's office said, and was then taken by sheriff's deputies to the Lake County Jail.
