Police Determine Attempted Kidnapping Report Is Unfounded

The Grayslake Police Department ruled the attempted kidnapping, which was reported on Jan. 26, is unfounded.

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Following an investigation into a kidnapping attempt in Grayslake, authorities have determined the report was unfounded.

Police on Tuesday said they would not be releasing anymore information regarding the unfounded attempted kidnapping report since it is a "juvenile matter."

An extensive investigation into the report was launched after the attempted kidnapping was reported on Jan. 26. At that time, police were notified regarding a person who was walking in the 700 block of Cherry Creek Drive when a mini-van reportedly stopped next to them.

Authorities were told two male individuals then got out of the van and one of the men tried to get the victim into the vehicle.

The case has since been closed after authorities determined the report was unfounded, police said this past week.
