Report Of Man With Knife, Injured Child Prompts Standoff

Police were called to the 0 to 100 block of Tallgrass Court in Round Lake Beach.

ROUND LAKE BEACH, IL — A standoff ended peacefully after police surrounded a home in Round Lake Beach on Saturday night.

Authorities say they were called to the 0 to 100 block of Tallgrass Court for a report of a man with a knife and a child who had been injured at about 5:45 p.m. Saturday.

When police arrived, they learned the victims had left the home and a man remained inside and refused to respond to police, according to a news release from the Round Lake Beach Police Department.

During follow-up interviews, police learned a knife was never used and a child was scratched during the incident, according to the news release. Local police and the SWAT team decided to peacefully end the standoff instead of forcing a "potential confrontation" with the man.

The incident remains under investigation, police said.
