Round Lake Man Wanted After 11-Year-Old Drove To School: Police
Police said witnesses reported the man switched to the driver's seat and drove away after the children got out at school.

ROUND LAKE, IL — Police in Round Lake are searching for a man after teachers at John J. Murphy Elementary School told authorities they saw an 11-year-old drive a car up to a school drop-off point Jan. 9. According to the Round Lake Park Police Department, witnesses said the man switched to the driver's seat and drove away after the 11-year-old and another child, 9, seen sitting in the back got out. Police said the man described and identified by staff members is 31-year-old Khafilu M. Oshodi, of the 500 block of Lakewood Terrace, Round Lake.
An arrest warrant for two counts of child endangerment and driving while license suspended has been issued for Oshodi, police said.
According to police, school officials were notified earlier in the day by staff and then reported the incident to police several hours later.

“Drop off and pickup are the busiest times of the school day," Round Lake Police Chief George Filenko said in a release sent to Patch. "Numerous children, staff and parents are present in the drop off area. This irresponsible behavior could’ve resulted in any number of tragic scenarios.”
Police said further investigation also indicated the vehicle driven by the child was reported stolen on January 14.
