Snowmobile Goes Through Ice Near Antioch
A rider was uninjured and escaped from the water after a snowmobile fell through the ice on a Chain O'Lakes channel.

A rider was uninjured and escaped from the water after a snowmobile fell through the ice on a Chain O’Lakes channel near Antioch Saturday afternoon.
The Antioch Fire Department responded around 4:58 p.m. Saturday to the 40300 block of North Lake Shore Drive in unincorporated Antioch for a report of an ice water rescue.

Firefighters received a report of a snowmobile that fell through the ice.
Antioch Fire Department Battalion Chief Ryan Keefe said fire crews arrived to find the rider was already out of the water.

The rider was inside of a home nearby and no injuries were reported, Keefe said.
The snowmobile was in Long Channel between Spring Lake and Bluff Lake.
Paramedics assessed the snowmobile rider and incoming fire department resources were canceled after confirming no one was in the water, Keefe said.
BruceSki’s Marine Construction and Recovery was called to the scene and recovered the sunken snowmobile.
The company said the channel is “not safe at all” but the driver of the snowmobile is fine.
