Star Student: 'Not Afraid Of A Challenge'

GRAYSLAKE, IL — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Lisa Prims who nominated Lindsey, a 12th grade student who lives in Grayslake.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
I'm not sure where to even begin answering this question. Lindsey is the most goal-oriented person I know. She isn't afraid to step out of her "comfort zone" to better herself. She has always worked hard in school and taken advanced classes - this year she is currently enrolled in 5 AP classes and maintaining a solid A in each. Lindsey has played the alto saxophone for 7 years and is currently 1st chair (for the past 3 years) in Symphonic Band 1 at her high school. She is a member of the National Honor Society, has a Spanish biliteracy seal, was a part of Science Olympiad up until this year (the club is no longer being offered) with many medals taken from the events she was in, one of the individuals in charge of the Red Cross Club at school, volunteers daily at the college counseling center at school during her study hall which includes helping her peers in the college application process. Lindsey's studies are extremely important to her and her journey to get a degree in Biochemistry, but she also enjoys spending time with her friends, crocheting, drawing and just being a teenager.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Lindsey is not afraid of a challenge. She never gives up on anything she sets out to do no matter how much time and effort she has to work on attaining the goals she is trying to reach. She enjoys challenging herself academically and in other aspects of her daily life.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Lindsey 12th grade!
