The heavy bursts of snow Wednesday could lead to slick roadways and quickly reduce visibility for drivers, weather officials said.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — It's cold and it's only going to get colder this afternoon as a powerful Arctic cold front — coupled with gusty snow showers and snow squalls — moves across the Chicago area.

The scattered heavier snow showers and squalls, which will produce brief bursts of snow accompanied by wind gusts up to 50 mph or greater, are expected to hit Lake County between 3 and 6 p.m.
