Winter Storm Warning Issued For Lake County

Lake County could see 5 to 8 inches of snow accumulation during the snowstorm.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A winter storm warning has been issued for Lake County, which will take effect at 8 p.m. Monday and continue through Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Kane and McHenry counties are also under a winter storm warning. A winter weather advisory has been issued for other Chicago-area counties, including Cook, DuPage and Will counties.

The snowfall is expected to start Monday night across the Chicago area, and heavy, wet snow and wind gusts as high as 35 mph are in the forecast. In Kane County, between 5 and 8 inches of snow is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Snowfall rates of more than one inch per hour are possible at times late Tuesday morning and into Tuesday evening, and visibility could be reduced to under a half-mile at times.

"Travel will be very difficult and dangerous at times," according to the National Weather Service. "The hazardous conditions will impact both the morning and evening commutes on Tuesday."
