Woman, 33, Killed After Being Hit By Truck In Gurnee: Police

GURNEE, IL — A 33-year-old woman was killed after she was hit by a truck Wednesday night in Gurnee.

The collision happened at about 8 p.m. in the area of Delany Road and Sunset Avenue in Gurnee, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department. The pedestrian, a 33-year-old woman, was found unresponsive in the roadway after being struck by the truck.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford E450 truck pulled off the roadway into the parking lot of a nearby business following the collision and remained at the scene until police arrived, police said. He "cooperated with officers throughout the investigation."

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning for the woman, according to the news release.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
