Woman, 76, Dies After Crash Near Antioch
The collision happened Sunday afternoon on Route 173 near Wells Lane. Police believe the woman suffered a medical episode before the crash.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Officials in Lake County are investigating the death of a 76-year-old Rockford woman.
Authorities believe the woman may have suffered a medical episode before crashing her 2000 Buick Century into a tree off of Route 173 west of Wells Lane in unincorporated Antioch at about 3:10 p.m. on Sunday, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman unconscious. She was experiencing labored breathing and was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The incident remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
