Fire officials said the Grayslake home caught fire Tuesday afternoon and one of the homeowners had to be hospitalized, according to report.
GRAYSLAKE, IL — One person was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after a fire in north-central Grayslake left a home uninhabitable, The Daily Herald reported. According to the news report, Grayslake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Mike Rutkowski said a husband and wife were home when a fire broke out around 3:15 p.m. in the back of the house located in the 0-100 block of Whispering Oaks Lane.
According to Rutkowski, the flames spread up the side of the home and onto the second floor, leading crews to fight the fire outside and inside for nearly an hour until it was under control around 4:11 p.m. He added that they were assisted by several other fire departments, the Daily Herald reported.
Rutkowski said the woman had to be rushed to a hospital because she became overexerted, according to The Daily Herald, adding that the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
