Trio Of New Leaders Appointed In North Shore School District 112
The NSSD-112 board promoted Enrique Castro and hired Nicole Rodrigo and Sarah Yoo. All three will start in July.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Board members in North Shore School District 112 approved a trio of appointments for the 2025-26 school year during their Tuesday meeting. The appointments, effective July 1, include the promotion of a longtime advocate of multilingual education and the hiring of a principal from Vernon Hills and an assistant principal from Evanston.
“We are thrilled to welcome these three talented leaders to their new roles and look forward to the contributions they will bring to our district,” Deputy Superintendent Monica Schroeder said in a statement.
Enrique Castro, who has been with the district since 2014, will step into the role of director of multilingual learners.

Castro began as a student teacher at Edgewood and has also worked as a dual language teacher and instructional coach. Most recently, as coordinator for English learners and bilingual programs, he has overseen world language curricula at the middle schools and championed equity and access for multilingual students.
Nicole Rodrigo will lead the district’s early childhood program at Oak Terrace Elementary School as director of early childhood.

Previously principal of the School of Dual Language in Hawthorn School District 73, Rodrigo spearheaded efforts to enhance dual language programming, improve curricula, and strengthen ties with the community. She has also taught in Barrington School District and School District U-46 in Elgin.
Sarah Yoo will join Ravinia Elementary School as associate principal, a new position created as the school prepares to reopen in a renovated building.
Yoo, who has served as assistant principal at Orrington Elementary School in Evanston since 2023, implemented a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and helped the school retain its ‘Exemplary’ designation from the State of Illinois. Her background includes teaching kindergarten and first grade.
“Their expertise and passion for education will strengthen our mission to support students, staff and families across our community," said Schroeder, who is set to take over as superintendent of NSSD-112 starting in 2026.
