4 Businesses Burglarized In Single Night: Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

PACKAGE THEFT
Someone stole a package containing a vacuum worth about $180 from a common area of an apartment building in the 1200 block of Park Avenue West at some point prior to the evening of Jan. 30.

CAR BURGLARIES
Someone stole keys, a bag of clothes and various other items from inside an unlocked Lincoln SUV parked in the parking lot at the northeast corner of Skokie Valley and Lake Cook roads.

LOCKER THEFT
Someone stole cash from a wallet inside a locked locker at LA Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, between 8 and 9:45 a.m. on Feb. 4.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
The driver of an unidentified truck drove onto the lawn of a home in the 1300 block of Ridge Road around 12:45 p.m. on Feb. 10, damaging two garbage cans before leaving the scene.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • Someone broke into a home in the 2300 block of Tennyson Lane by forcing open the back door prior to 6:15 p.m. Jan. 30. Nothing was listed as stolen at the time of the report.
  • A burglar broke into a house in the 2000 block of Churchill Lane through the front door and left the interior ransacked prior to about 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. It was not known if anything was stolen at the time of the report.
  • Someone stole a golf bag, a Trek bicycle, dishes and silverware from inside a garage in the 500 block of Gray Avenue at some point between Feb. 4 and Feb. 10. There was no damage to the garage door.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

  • Police were called to the Mobil gas station at 2580 Skokie Valley Road at about 4:30 a.m. on Feb. 5 for a report of a burglary. Officers discovered someone forced open the front door and stole an unknown amount of cigarettes and gift cards from inside.
  • Sometime between 1 and 5 a.m. on Feb. 5, someone broke into the Wendy's, 2560 Skokie Valley Road, through the south doors and stole an unknown amount of cash from a donation box.
  • A burglar shattered the front door of the Hearing Health Center, 185 Skokie Valley Road, at some point between 1:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8 a.m. Feb. 5, stealing three UPS parcels of unknown value from the counter inside.
  • Between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 4 and 8 a.m. Feb. 5, someone shattered the front door of Chic Couture, 181 Skokie Valley Road. No stolen items were identified at the time of the report.

SHOPLIFTING

  • Three people reached over the counter at the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, and stole about 12 Juul e-cigarette boxes worth about $240 around 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 31. Police did not provide any descriptions of the trio of thieves.
  • Someone stole about $500 worth of unspecified merchandise from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road before fleeing the scene shortly before 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. No description was provided.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Luke H. Goshen, 18, of the 600 block of Sheridan Road, Highwood, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 7 and charged with battery after he allegedly approached someone and punched him numerous times while he was sitting in the driver's seat of a car in a parking lot in the 600 block of Sheridan Road.

Abraham Camargo, 29, of the 200 block of Evolution Avenue, Highwood, was arrested charged with battery after he allegedly punched someone in the face at Teddy's O'Brien's, 432 Sheridan Road, around 1:45 a.m. on Jan. 21.

Lizbeth Flores, 22, of the 200 block of Ashland Avenue, Highwood, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Feb. 6 and charged with aggravated driving under and driving with a license suspended for a previous DUI arrest following an incident at Sheridan Road and Washington Avenue.
