9 Cars Broken Into In 1 Night: Highland Park Crime Blotter

The crime blotter covers incidents in Highland Park from Jan. 5-11.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following is the most recent crime blotter from the Highland Park Police Department.

BURGLARY

  • Vehicle - Jan 5 at 6:22 a.m.
    • Police received a report of burglary to multiple vehicles in the 600 block of Old Elm Road. The reporting party told police that four of their vehicles were broken into overnight and items were taken from one of them.
  • Vehicle - Jan. 5 at 6:55 a.m.
    • Police received a report of burglary to multiple vehicles in the 3200 block of Dato Avenue. The reporting party told police that two of their vehicles were broken into overnight and items were taken from both of them.
  • Vehicle - Jan. 5 at 8:44 a.m.
    • A resident called police after noticing their car was broken into overnight in the 3100 block of University Avenue, but nothing was stolen.
  • Vehicle - Jan 5 at 9:44 a.m.
    • A resident reported that their car was broken into overnight in the 3200 block of Summit Avenue. Items were taken from inside, but the complainant told police that it was nothing of value.
  • Vehicle - Jan. 5 at 10:17 a.m.
    • Another resident reported that their car was broken into overnight in the 3200 block of Summit Avenue. Items were taken from inside, but the complainant told police that it was nothing of value.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Residence - Jan. 7 at 5:44 p.m.
    • A resident reported that a window on their home in the 600 block of Crofton Avenue South was damaged. The total estimated damage was unknown.
  • Business - Jan. 9 at 10:32 a.m.
    • Police received a report of criminal damage at the McGrath Kia of Highland Park located at 250 Skokie Valley Road. The reporting party told police that the front window on the driver's side of their vehicle was smashed and its steering column was stripped.

THEFT

  • Retail - Jan. 9 at 11:30 a.m.
    • An employee at the Target located at 2099 Skokie Valley Rd. reported a theft. According to police, a woman took $18 worth of merchandise without paying
