The Art Center – Highland Park’s June 25 & 26 Festival of Fine Craft

Join us as this weekend as Sheridan Road in Highland Park transforms into an impressive outdoor art festival showcasing the best in fine art and fine crafts.  This juried fair features ceramics, paintings, jewelry, sculpture, glass, wood, fiber and much more!

Fairgoers can also enjoy lively street music and entertainment, artists’ demonstrations, free children’s activities and the distinctive shops and restaurants of Highland Park.

2011 Festival of Fine Craft Featured Artist: Local Ceramic Artist Nancy Gardner who has shown at the Festival for 10 years.  Nancy Gardner’s ceramic work brings together the elements that she values most in life. “The touch of the hand, rich color and pattern, natural forms, designed objects. It occurred to me that paintings represent a sort of enhanced reality, a moment when life is operating on all cylinders and that I wanted to bring that heightened sense to the table of everyday life.” All of Nancy’s work is hand built with pinch and coil technique.  Each piece is one of a kind, individually hand formed and decorated with multiple layers of glazes. The materials employed are food safe and water tight and intended for everyday use. She resides in Oak Park with husband and collaborator Burton Isenstein.
