HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

JEWELRY THEFT
Someone stole about $25,000 worth of jewelry from a home in the 500 block of Clavey Lane at some point prior to June 12, police were told.

STOLEN KEY
Between 2 and 4:30 p.m. on June 30 someone stole a key from a door of a home in the 1000 block of Saxony Drive during an estate sale.

EQUIPMENT THEFT
Someone stole two leaf blowers and a line trimmer from the 1800 block of Clavey Road for a loss of about $1,500 on or before July 3.

WALLET THEFT
Someone stole a wallet from a shopper at the Jewel-Osco, 1600 Deerfield Road, on or before the evening of June 23. Cards stolen in the wallet were later used to make various unauthorized purchases.

PACKAGE THEFT
On the afternoon of July 15, police were told that someone had stolen multiple packages delivered to the lobby of a building in the 700 block of St. John's Avenue.

LOCKER THEFTS

  • Someone stole about $550 worth of cash from a locker in the men's locker room at the L.A. Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, between 2:30 and 4 p.m. on June 15.
  • Someone stole credit cards from a locked in the men's locker room at the L.A. Fitness, 115 Skokie Valley Road, and tried to use them at an Apple Store on or before July 8.

STOLEN ITEMS

  • On June 24, police were told that someone had stolen 16 items from a home in the 700 block of White Oak Lane, including clothing, frames and vases, for a loss of about $1,300.
  • On July 10, police got a report of a theft from the first block of Park Avenue, where someone had stolen blocks and rope from an unlocked lockbox on top of a trailer for an estimated loss of approximately $450.

CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS

  • Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in the 1900 block of Sunset Road between June 9 and June 11.
  • Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in a hotel lot in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road at some point prior to 9 p.m. on July 8.
  • Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in a hotel lot in the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road at some point prior to 7 p.m. July 27.

STOLEN CARS

  • Staff at the Audi Exchange, 2490 Skokie Valley Road, reported on June 15 that someone had failed to return a rented Audi A5, which was later recovered by Milwaukee police.
  • Someone stole a possibly unlocked Chevrolet Camaro from the driveway of a home in the 800 block of Driscoll Court after the keys were left inside on June 18. The car was later found.
  • Someone stole a car from a parking lot in the 800 block of Old Elm Road after its keys were left inside. It was later found by police in Hobart, Indiana.
  • On July 18, staff of the McGrath Kia, 250 Skokie Valley Road, notified police that someone had stolen a white Kia Forte that had been getting service at another location. The keys were also reported stolen.
  • Someone stole a possibly unlocked Jeep parked in the driveway of a home in the 1900 block of Midland Avenue prior to 5 a.m. July 23. Stolen items include a black purse, house keys, fanny pack, and Pandora charms.
  • Someone stole a Land Rover from the 700 block of Vine Avenue, police were told around 10 p.m. on July 27.

SHOPLIFTING

  • Staff at the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, reported on June 24 that unidentified thieves had stolen various unknown items from within.
  • Someone stole about $700 worth of electronic toothbrushes from the Target at 2099 Skokie Valley Road on June 16. Police were notified nine days later.
  • Police were told of the theft of about $700 in perfume from the Ulta Beauty store at 135 Skokie Valley Road on or before July 4.
  • A shoplifter made off with about $3,900 worth of razors and electronic toothbrushes from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, at some point prior to 4 p.m. on July 8.
  • Someone stole two bottles of whiskey worth about $250 combined from the Binny's Beverage Depot, 153 Skokie Valley Road, on July 18. Police were notified nine days later.
  • Staff at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported on July 39 that someone had stolen a Sony portable speaker worth about $350.

CAR BURGLARIES/THEFTS FROM VEHICLE

  • About $1,200 in property, including golf clubs, sunglasses and vehicle registration, were stolen from a possibly unlocked car parked in a lot in the 1700 block of First Street at some point prior to 10:30 a.m. on June 25.
  • Someone stole a backpack sprayer from a possibly unlocked van belonging to Mosquito Joe, 3218 Skokie Valley Road, for a loss of about $750, on or before June 30.
  • Between 1 and 1:30 p.m. on July 7, someone stole a leaf blower from a landscaping truck at the intersection of Sheridan Road and Simonds Way for a loss of about $300.
  • Someone stole about $15 worth of cash from a car while it was parked in the 1300 block of Sherwood Road, on or before the morning of July 23, leaving a door ajar after burglarizing the car.
  • Someone stole license plates from a car ion the lot of the Acura dealership at 2699 Skokie Valley Road at some point prior to July 27.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Someone scratched the hood and trunk of a Toyota parked in the 600 block of Roger Williams Avenue on or before July 6.
  • Someone shattered the rear window of a Jeep between 2:30 and 3:45 p.m. on July 10, causing an unknown amount of damage.
  • Someone damaged the driver's side mirror of a Volvo parked in the 500 block of Onwentsia Avenue during the night of July 13 or morning of July 14.
  • Someone damaged a Toyota parked in the 1600 block of Green Bay Road during the night of July 14 or morning of July 15. Police reported a metal object was found broken off in the ignition and it was not known if the vehicle had been locked.
  • Sometime during the night of July 17 or morning of July 18, someone cut a lock on the front gate of Pasquesi Plumbing, 3218 Skokie Valley Road. Nothing was reported stolen or missing, and the amount of damage was not known at the time of the report.

VANDALISM

  • Someone spray-painted a depiction of human anatomy onto a fence in the 500 block of Hill Street at some point prior to the evening of June 18.
  • At some point prior to June 19, someone spray-painted a crown and lettering on a bridge near Old Deerfield Road and Skokie Valley Road.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Michael A. Armstead, 55, was arrested at about 11:55 p.m. on June 13 and charged with disorderly conduct in the 1800 block of Green Bay Road after someone called police to complain about him.

Edward L. Dapier, 49, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on June 19 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and disorderly conduct after police were dispatched to the Casey's at 1333 Half Day Road for a report of a disturbance.

Krzysztof Dudzinski, 44, of the 8400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, Niles, was arrested around 12:30 p.m. on June 25 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs following a traffic crash at the intersection of Park Avenue West and Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued a citation for improper lane usage.

Kimberly Leonie Williams, 35, of the 1900 block of Dawn Lane, Zion, was arrested around 7 p.m. on June 27 and charged with reckless conduct after police were called to help a citizen in the 700 block of Park Avenue.

Earl Palmer, 67, of the 4900 block of North Kenmore Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 5 p.m. on July 2 and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle following a report that someone had stolen a car from Etruscan Roofing, 1460 Old Skokie Road.

Antoine L. Knight, 33, of Milwaukee, was arrested around 8:30 a.m. on July 9 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and possession of between 500 and 2,000 grams of cannabis after police were dispatched to a driving complaint near the intersection of Half Day Road and Skokie Valley Road. Officers also issued him citations for improper use of registration and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Reyna J. Lopez, 33, of the 2300 block of West 72nd Street, Chicago, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on July 11 on a no-bond warrant issued by authorities in Cook County after police were called to the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road, for a report of a suspicious vehicle. She was also charged with resisting arrest, obstructing identification and criminal trespassing to a vehicle.

Christian Wong, 40, of the 8739 South Kildare Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 8 a.m. on July 11 and charged with resisting arrest causing injury to police and cited for unauthorized use of a handicapped parking space after police were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Casey's, 1333 Half Day Road.

Qiana D. House, 28, of the 11800 block of South Lafayette Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 8:30 p.m. on July 14 on an active arrest warrant issued by authorities in DuPage County in connection with her failure to appear in court there. She was also charged with driving without a valid license and ticketed for speeding.

Albert Wojcik, 38, of the 100 block of North Lancaster Street, Mount Prospect, was arrested around 11:30 p.m. on July 20 after he was involved in a traffic crash at the 2700 block of Summit Avenue. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater and operating a vehicle with expired plates He was also issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and texting while driving.

Eric Lopez, 19, of the 3800 block of North Sheridan Road, Beach Park, was arrested around 5 a.m. on July 23 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license following a traffic stop at the intersection of Deerfield and Skokie Valley roads. He was also cited for underage drinking, illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver and improper lane usage.

Susan Esther Garot, 65, of the 400 block of Saint Francis Drive in Green Bay, Wisconsin, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on July 29 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic crash at the intersection of Blackstone Place and Melody Lane.

Dusko Milankovic, 57, of the 900 block of Oxford Lane, Wilmette, was arrested around 11:15 p.m. on July 30 and charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing to property after police were called to a report of a disturbance in the 1000 block of Wildwood Lane.
