HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. Being arrested does not mean a person is guilty of the charged offense. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state are often dropped or reduced. Everyone named below is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. Updated information about the following cases may be available from the Lake County Circuit Clerk of Courts.

INCIDENTS

VANDALISM
Someone wrote "Free Palestine" on the east side of the bridge north of Elder Lane on or before June 16.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

  • Someone broke the driver-side rear window of a car that had been parked in the 900 block of Judson Avenue between May 27 and May 28. Nothing was taken from inside.
  • Several small dents were made on a rental car that was parked in the 2000 block of Grange Avenue between 5:45 p.m. on June 1 and 1 a.m. on June 2.
  • A hotel guest at Marriott Courtyard, 1505 County Line Road, reported on June 23 that someone had thrown a bottle at the windshield of their car, damaging it.

SHOPLIFTING

  • Someone stole a scooter valued at $99.99 from Target, located at 2099 Skokie Valley Road, on or before May 29.
  • Two unidentified thieves stole merchandise valued at $4,000 from Ulta Beauty at 135 Skokie Valley Road on or before June 18.
  • An unidentified thief stole merchandise valued at $203 from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, on or before June 21.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY

  • Two suspects broke the front glass of one of the businesses at the strip mall at 1855 Deerfield Road on May 31, stealing 60 boxes of cigarettes, cash, and multiple boxes of high-end liquor.
  • Someone broke a window on the north side of Exmoor Country Club, 700 Vine Avenue, at some point between 11 p.m. on June 14 and 6 a.m. June 15.

CAR BURGLARIES

  • Someone got into a car in the 100 block of Indian Tree Drive overnight on June 15. The vehicle was reportedly locked, but no signs of forced entry were found. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone entered two unlocked cars in the driveway of a home in the 200 block of Woodland Road overnight on June 15, stealing three new pairs of jeans and $40 in cash.
  • Someone entered a car in the 300 block of Oakland Drive overnight on June 15. The vehicle was rummaged through, but nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone got into a possibly unlocked car in the 800 block of Burton Avenue overnight on June 15. Nothing was reported stolen.
  • Someone stole a iPhone 13 from an unlocked car parked in the 600 block of Detamble Avenue overnight on June 15.
  • A money clip containing an ID, three credit cards, and a debit card was stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of Pleasant Avenue overnight on June 15.
  • Someone entered an unlocked car in the 300 block of Delta Road overnight on June 15. Nothing was reported stolen from inside.
  • Someone got into an unlocked car parked in the 1200 block of Cavell Avenue overnight on June 15. Nothing was reported stolen from inside.
  • Someone stole a wallet containing credit cards and cash was stolen from a car parked in the 1700 block of Rosemary Road overnight on June 18. Police were told it was locked but there were no signs of forced entry.

STOLEN CARS

  • Someone stole a car that was parked in the 800 block of Yale Lane overnight on June 15. It is unknown if the keys had been left inside.
  • Police were told on June 18 that a possibly unlocked car had been stolen from Acura Highland Park, 2699 Skokie Valley Road, on June 14.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARIES

  • An unidentified female burglar forced her way into La Michoacana, 2641 Waukegan Ave., through a sliding window around 1:30 a.m. on June 16, stealing two bags of gummy candy and a bag of chips.
  • An unidentified burglar broke a glass window to get into Waterway Carwash, 64 Skokie Valley Road, before stealing an empty cash box from inside on or before the morning of June 19.
  • Burglars caused about $10,000 in damage to the door at Razny Jewelers, 1700 Green Bay Road, when they tried and failed to break into the business on or before the morning of June 18.
  • Someone forced their way into Dave’s Towing, 1325 Park Avenue West, and stole less than $300 worth of scrap metal before driving away prior on or before the evening of June 21.
  • Two chairs and a table were stolen by an unidentified man from Mil Colibris Bakery and Cafe, 481 Roger Williams Ave., on June 23.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Jennifer L. Bennett, 33, of the 900 block of Cedar Avenue, Elgin, was arrested around 1 a.m. on June 5 and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and illegal possession of a high-capacity magazine after officers found a stolen 9mm pistol during an investigation into a report of gunfire from a car in the 1400 block of Linden Avenue, which police determined had been fireworks rather than gunshots.

Brandol Miranda, 20, of the 2000 block of West Fargo Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 2:30 a.m. on June 7 and charged with possession of a controlled substance after police pulled him over for speeding in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road.

Morgan Thurman, 22, of the 2000 block of West Birchwood Avenue, Skokie, was arrested around 6:45 p.m. on June 7 on an active arrest warrant from another Illinois jurisdiction. Highland Park police detained her for another agency before she was taken to bond court.

A 28-year-old Gurnee man was arrested around 4 p.m. on June 8 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license following an investigation into a traffic crash on Skokie Valley Road near Old Elm Road. He was also issued citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and improper lane usage.

A 32-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested around 5:30 p.m. on June 8 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license and registration following an investigation into a traffic crash in the 2300 block of Skokie Valley Road. He was also issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.

A 24-year-old Kenosha woman was arrested around 8 a.m. on June 12 and cahrged with leaving the scene of a vehicle damage accident following a traffic stop on Deerfield Road. She was also issued a citation for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Alexander Hurlbutt, 38, of the 6200 block of Sheridan Road, Chicago, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on June 17 after police investigating a call of a suspicious person walking down Lake Avenue spoke to him and learned he had an active arrest warrant.

A 40-year-old Deerfield woman was arrested around 1 p.m. on June 17 and charged with misdemeanor retail theft from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, after she allegedly altered labels to steal less than $300 worth of merchandise.

A 46-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 1 a.m. on June 18 and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass to residence after police got a call of possible trespassers at a home in the 400 block of Temple Avenue.
