Highland Park Awards Nominations Open
Awards will honor outstanding community members, businesses and local organizations at a ceremony next month at Highland Park High School.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Nominations for the Highland Park Awards can be submitted through Friday ahead of an awards ceremony scheduled for next month.
Anyone can suggest a member of the Highland Park community or a business or nonprofit organization based in Highland Park, according to city staff.

The Arts Award, which honors outstanding achievements or contributions to visual arts, performance, architecture, literature, web production or graphic design. Ravinia Festival was the 2021 winner of the award., which has been offered since 1990.
The Character Counts! Pillar Awards honor members of the Highland Park community who serve as role models of the city's six pillars of character — trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Nominees must work, live, volunteer or attend school within North Shore School District 112.

The Mayors Beautification Award, which recognizes business owners who have gone above and beyond to improve the visual appeal of their property. Eligible businesses include car dealerships, commercial developments, restaurants, retail and service. Last year's winners were Bright Bowls, 777 Central Ave., Dr. Jessica Cohen Orthodontics, 1775 St. Johns Ave., and Ravinia Crossing, 555 Rogers Williams Ave.
The Business Recognition Award is presented to businesses that have been in town for more than 50 years.
The Environmental Award goes to people or businesses that have made substantial contributions to approve the environment.
The Humanitarian Award is presented to an individual who has provided outstanding service to the community, which could be in the area of charitable work, education, advocacy, public policy or other fields.
City staff recommended those submitting nominees carefully review the description of each of the awards and their nomination requirements.
The Highland Park Awards Ceremony is set for 7 p.m. April 27 in the auditorium at Highland Park High School, 433 Vine Ave.
