Highland Park Issues Temporary Outdoor Water Ban
A problem Monday morning with the water treatment plant construction project prompted the ban on all outdoor water use.

The following is from the City of Highland Park:
The City of Highland Park has issued a Temporary Outdoor Water Use Ban as a result of unexpected issues with the Water Treatment Plant construction project. The ban pertains to outdoor water use only and includes all outdoor sprinkling. The ban is in effect until further notice.
The City is working diligently to remedy the issue and lift the temporary ban. Notification of the lifted ban will be sent through the City’s communication channels.

This morning, the plant reported intermittent problems with clogged strainers limiting the City’s ability to deliver water. The strainers protect the plant’s membranes from damage caused by sand and other large solids coming in from Lake Michigan.
The City has activated its mutual aid connections with the City of Lake Forest and Village of Northbrook to deliver emergency water. As soon as the Highland Park Water Treatment Plant strainers are unclogged, the ban will be lifted.
