Highland Park Residents Open Italian Ice Shop at Highwood Metra Station

Looking for a hot-weather treat? Highwood has a new spot to check out.

Orsi’s Italian Ice opened late last month at the Highwood Metra Station. The shop is owned by Highland Park residents Frank and Stephanie Orsi and serves fat-free, cholesterol-free and dairy-free Italian ice, according to a press release. Flavors include watermelon, lemon, coconut, peach, mango, strawberry/lemonade, lime, blueberry/raspberry, chocolate and banana chocolate chip.

The public is invited to the shop’s grand opening Thursday at 4 p.m.

Later this summer the Highwood Metra Station will become home to another eatery, The Train Café. It will be a coffee shop selling travel-friendly treats with a few tables as well.
