Highwood Man Injures Officer After Hit-And-Run Crash: Blotter
Porch pirates strike on Christmas Eve; shoplifters stock up on tequila, electronics, drugs, tools and perfume: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFT
Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Ford SUV parked outside a bicycle store in a parking lot in the 100 block of Skokie Valley Road some time during daylight hours on Dec. 12
GOLF CLUB THEFT
At some point between 6:45 and 8 p.m. on Dec. 14, someone stole a set of golf clubs valued at $3,000 that had been left leaning against a wall in a designated parking space at 1850 Green Bay Road.

HOME BURGLARY
Between noon and 4 p.m. on Dec. 18 someone got into a home in the 800 block of Half Day Road and stole cash and two gold chains. Both front doors were unlocked and there were no visible signs of a break-in.
SHOPLIFTING

- Two women or girls stole about $1,600 worth of fragrances from the Ulta Beauty, 135 Skokie Valley Road, around 5 p.m. on Dec. 13. Police were notified three days later.
- A female shoplifter stole more than $700 worth of merchandise from the electronics section of Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, on Dec. 6. Police were notified on Dec. 18.
- Staff at Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported on Dec. 18 that at some prior point an unidentified female shoplifter stole multiple gift sets of tequila valued at about $665.
- Two male shoplifters stole a pair of impact driver kits, each valued at $400, as well as another tool kit and various other items from the Mutual Ace Hardware, 1393 Half Day Road, around noon on Dec. 21. The two thieves left in a tan Ford Crown Victoria.
- Staff at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported on Dec. 23 that someone had stolen a $500 Oculus gaming device and a white t-shirt on Dec. 17.
- On Dec. 23, staff at the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, reported that someone had stolen various over-the-counter medications on Dec. 18 for a loss of more than $980.
PORCH PIRACY
- Around 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, police were called to the 1700 block of Cloverdale Avenue for a report that a silver Chrysler SUV had pulled into the driveway and a male thief wearing a black baseball cap had gotten out of the passenger side and taken a package with unknown contents from the front porch. The thief got back into the car, which headed south toward Park Avenue.
- Around 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 24, police were told a package containing a VHS tape and a flash drive that had been delivered at 3:45 p.m. was nowhere to be found when the resident checked the porch at 4:50 p.m. Police believe the incident is related to the above theft.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Robert E. Crimo Jr., 58, of the 100 block of Pleasant Avenue, Highwood, turned himself in around 2 p.m. on Dec. 16 on a Lake County arrest warrant for eight counts of reckless conduct in connection with paperwork he signed three years earlier to permit his son to apply for a firearm owners identification card.

Adelmo A. Vazquez, 38, of the 300 block of Euclid Avenue, Highwood, was arrested around 9 p.m. on Dec. 21 and charged with obstructing a peace officer and resisting arrest, resulting in an injury to an office, after police were called to a report of a hit-and-run traffic crash at Sheridan and Waverly roads.
Raul Tolentino Gonzalez, 28, of the 600 block of Walnut Street, Highland Park, was arrested around 4:45 a.m. on Dec. 23 on an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in Lake County court after police were called to his block for a report of a domestic disturbance.
A 37-year-old North Chicago man was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Dec. 26 and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license after officers pulled him over on Skokie Valley Road north of Old Elm Road for driving with no lights, for which they also ticketed him.
