How Kids In Highland Park Can Earn Free Dessert
The Highland Park Police Department is rewarding kids who make good and safe choices this summer by offering a free sweet treat.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — Kids in Highland Park who get caught doing something good this summer can earn a free sweet treat.
Sweet Tickets are returning for summer 2025 to encourage young residents to make good and safe choices. Each ticket received can be redeemed at a participating McDonald's restaurant for a free small frozen beverage.
Some things that can earn you a sweet ticket include:

- wearing a helmet when riding their bikes or skateboards
- using a crosswalk instead of crossing mid-block
- helping someone else
- holding a door for someone
- being respectful and kind
As a tip, Highland Park police said a great place to earn a sweet ticket would be at the upcoming National Night Out on Aug. 5. Highland Park residents are invited to attend the annual community-building campaign at the Hidden Creek Aquapark at 1220 Fredrickson Place.
The event will allow the community to meet HPPD officers and take part in family-friendly games, activities, giveaways and demonstrations. HPPD's event will take place from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“This is a night for our nation to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnerships and citizen involvement. When law enforcement and the community work closely together, some amazing things can happen,” National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin said.
