HPHS Outlines Traffic Guidelines for New School Year

District 113 asks residents for help with traffic flow as the new school year begins.

The information below comes from District 113.

As we begin another new school year, asks for your cooperation on the following areas regarding the traffic flow around HPHS.

The areas of most concern are on the south side of Vine Avenue in front of the high school on the playing fields side of the street, in the circle drive on the north side of the building (near H Entrance), and in the student lot also on the north side of the building. As you may know, there are very difficult traffic flow patterns in these areas before and after school.

Please be sure to adhere to the posted traffic sign regulations of “No Standing, Stopping or Parking” throughout Vine Ave. This also includes the areas directly east of the high school. Please know that a violation of these posted traffic regulations does run the risk of a traffic violation. It is illegal to stop/wait or park to drop-off/pick-up students on the south side of the street. This activity causes traffic congestion and is very unsafe as students tend to cross in-between traffic in this area.

Refrain at all times from using the circle drive (“Busses and Staff Only”) near the H Entrance. We have created a new Drop-off/Pick-up area in the student lot on the north side of the building. Please utilize this new area location.

The areas for student Drop-off/Pick-up are on the north side of Vine Ave., the west parking lot, and the north parking lot. You may also want to stagger your drop-off/pick-up times; adjusting by only 5 or 10 minutes can make a significant difference in the traffic conditions.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter and enjoy your new school year.
