Missing Painting; Smash-And-Grab Burglars Nab High-End Booze: Blotter
A Deerfield man is charged with being on drugs during a traffic crash: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The information below comes from Highland Park and Highwood police and Lake County courts as a record of those arrested by police. INCIDENTS
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
Someone tried to break into a shed on the side of a house in the 100 block of Aspen Lane at some point prior to 6:30 p.m. on May 21.
THEFT
Someone stole $575 worth of tools from Highland Park Hospital, 777 Park Ave., at some point between May 17 and May 20, police were told on May 23.

STOLEN PLATE
Someone stole a dealer plate from the McGrath Kia, 250 Skokie Valley Road, in December 2023 and the dealership subsequently received a notification that someone had gotten a red light camera citation using the plate.
STOLEN PAINTING
A resident in the 1000 block of Saxony Drive reported that a company doing some worth at their home had damaged a painting. The owner said he would have the painting restored but so far has failed to return the painting and has not responded to the owner since the incident, police were told on May 23.

SIGN THEFT
Someone stole a yard sign from the front lawn of a home in the 900 block of Half Day Road at some point prior to 12:15 p.m. on May 25.
CAR BURGLARY
Someone stole wallets and identification cards from a possible unlocked car parked on the corner of Waverly and Sheridan roads prior to 5:30 p.m. on May 26.
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Two people broke into a business at the Garrity Square strip mall, 1855 Deerfield Road, by smashing its front glass window at some point prior to 12:30 p.m. on May 31. The burglars stole 60 boxes of cigarettes, cash and multiple boxes of high-end liquor for an unspecified loss.
SHOPLIFTING
- Someone stole more than $82 worth of items from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, at some point prior to noon May 27 after only scanning some of the items they took to a self-checkout area.
- Someone stole a scooter worth $100 from the Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road, prior to 2 p.m. on May 29.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- Someone smashed the rear, driver's side window from a car parked in the 900 block of Judson Avenue between May 27 and May 28. Nothing was reported stolen from the car.
- Police were told that someone made several small dents in a rental car between 5:45 p.m. on June 1 and 1 a.m. on June 2 in the 2000 block of Grange Avenue.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
A 46-year-old Deerfield man was arrested around noon on May 23 and charged with driving under the influence of drugs after police were dispatched to the scene of a traffic crash in the 1600 block of Deerfield Road. He was also ticketed for improper lane usage.
A 26-year-old Vernon Hills man was arrested around 4 a.m. on May 26 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled him over on Skokie Valley Road near Half Day Road. He later provided a breath sample indicating he was above the legal limit for alcohol intoxication. Officers also ticketed him for failure to signal and improper lane usage.
An 18-year-old Highwood man was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on April 27 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after police were called to the 1700 block of St Johns Avenue for a report of a battery in progress.
Dasia Shirley Glen, 19, was arrested around 5:15 a.m. on a warrant from Michigan after officers encountered her and a 21-year-old woman standing outside of an occupied vehicle at the intersection of Old Deerfield and Richfield roads. Both were charged with obstructing identification, while Glen was also charged with fugitive from justice.
