Featured Obituary:
Ralph Dennis Lynch, Sr., age 84, died peacefully at home surrounded by loving family. Born in the Bronx, New York, to Mary Louise and Robert Joseph Lynch, Ralph was the 4th of 9 children, 7 boys and 2 girls with names that all start with the letter R; Robert, Richard, Ronald, Ralph, Roger, Rosemary, Raymond, Russell and Rita. He played basketball and football at Iona grammar school and Iona Preparatory School and attended Boston College and the University of Buffalo. He knew how to make others laugh and was considered a class clown. As a boy scout, he did his first impression on stage and spent the rest of his life relating to people with stories, jokes, impressions, songs, one-liners and sound effects. At the age of fifteen, he had his first date with his beautiful bride Judy who was mortified when she genuflected in the movie theater before she took her seat. That was 69 years ago! As a loving, devoted husband he fathered 7 children, 6 of which were born in the 1960’s and the caboose came in 1976. As the breadwinner of the family he worked hard and had an impressive career of 44 years as a trusted stockbroker and financial advisor. He was a pioneer in the brokerage business and opened the first suburban office in the Chicagoland area impacting the financial lives of hundreds of families and multiple generations. His legacy in business and the community continues through his children and grandchildren. He served the community of Glenview since 1964 and was one of the original parishioners of St. Catherine Laboure School and Church. He was generous with his time, talent and money. His volunteer roles included coaching basketball and football and acting and writing for parish and community fundraisers. Some of his titles include: Glenview Village Trustee, President of North Shore Country Club, Master of Ceremony, Business Person of the Year, Father of the Year, King of Stacko and the Grace of God. He was an eternal optimist and spent over 25 years volunteering his time and talent to the Optimist Club of Glenview and the Youth Appreciation Awards. Ralph enjoyed his retirement years on the golf course with Judy and his football buddies from Iona. He loved family parties and any social event. He touched the lives of so many, easily found a way to make others laugh and smile, but mostly he loved Judy with all of his heart.Read more via Donnellan Family Funeral Services »
