Featured Obituary:

Marlin DeWitt Reed, 97, passed away on May 13, 2022 in Lake Forest, Illinois. He was born on February 9, 1925 in Zion, IL to Lafayette and Esther Reed. He graduated from Zion Benton High School in Zion, IL, and Purdue University with a B.S. degree in aeronautical engineering. While at Purdue, he played first chair trumpet in various band organizations. He also served as an army lieutenant in both WW II and the Korean conflict.

While nearing the end of his military experience, he met the love of his life on a blind date, Donna Mae Moore, and they were married on June 27, 1952. They were blessed with the celebration of 69 cherished anniversaries together.

In the early 1950s, he entered the family business started by his father, and which became widely known in Lake County, IL as Reed-Randle Motors ( the largest Ford Dealership in the area). In his 38 year career there, he served in many sales and management capacities, culminating with being President of its Company and Properties. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Zion State Bank for over 30 years.
