NSYMCA Hosts 'East on Central' in their Community Art Gallery
Showcase of the 2025 'A Journal of Arts and Letters' Volume 24

Northbrook, IL – September 2025 – The North Suburban YMCA is thrilled to host, for the first time, the art, poetry, and prose of the 2025 East on Central: A Journal of Arts and Letters. This special showcase is on display in the Y’s lobby and features works from this year’s contributors in a vibrant celebration of community creativity and expression.
The East on Central: A Journal of Arts and Letters exhibition will be on display in the North Suburban YMCA’s Community Art Gallery through October 18, 2025. Visitors are invited to experience an inspiring collection of visual and literary works that showcase the talent and imagination of local and regional artists and writers
“Hosting the East on Central showcase reflects the Y’s mission to strengthen community through the arts, providing space for talent and artistic vision to be shared and celebrated,” said Kathy Fielding, CEO of the North Suburban YMCA.

East on Central is supported in part by the Highland Park Community Foundation, the Illinois Arts Council, and Arts Link North.
The East on Central participants showcasing at the Y Community Gallery include: Gloria Bradle, Allison Bruce, Allen Cohen, Candice Glicken, Mary Barnes-Gingrich, Susan Holtz, Terry Loncaric, Margoth Moreno, Thomas Sandercock, Howard Schultz (former CEO of the NSYMCA), Jan Keller Schultz, Maya Shimoni, Regina Siske, and Lynn West.

The exhibition is free and open to the public during regular NSYMCA business hours in their lobby located at 2705 Techny Road, Northbrook.
East on Central: A Journal of Arts and Letters Vol. 24 is available for purchase through the online store. Copies are also available at Sunset Foods in Highland Park and The Art Center of Highland Park.
The NSYMCA’s Community Art Gallery celebrates the diversely talented artists living and working in Chicago’s northern suburbs with monthly exhibits and pop-ups that are free and open to the public.
