Highwood Boy, 16, Shot Dead In Highland Park, Gunman At Large: Police
The shooter approached the teen on the sidewalk and fatally shot him after a brief conversation, authorities said.

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — A Highwood teen was shot dead Sunday on a sidewalk in Highland Park, authorities said.
Police dispatched to the 2300 block of Green Bay Road around 11:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting arrived to find a 16-year-old boy who had just been shot, according to a spokesperson for the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.
Highland Park fire crews took the boy to Highland Park Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The shooter was initially described as male who was "dressed in all black" and left the scene on a bicycle, but further investigation suggested he probably ran away instead, according to the spokesperson.
Authorities said the shooting appeared to have been targeted.
