Police Blotter: Tools Stolen in Auto Break-in

The Highland Park Police Department provided the following reports. In all incidents where an arrest occurred, a charge is merely an accusation and not evidence of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Burglary

Police are investigating a burglary in which tools were stolen from a vehicle between July 10 and July 20 in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park.

Driving while license suspended

Nancy J. Cohen, 48, of the 1100 block of Linden Avenue in Highland Park, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and failure to reduce her vehicle's speed after an accident at Lake Cook and Skokie Valley roads, Highland Park. She was released on bond, and has a court date of Sept. 14.

Steven H. Lyman, 25, of the 14000 block of Cleveland Avenue in Posen, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and making an illegal turn on a red light. Police pulled over his vehicle at Skokie Valley Road and Park Avenue West, Highland Park. Lyman was released on bond, and has a court date of Aug. 24.

Diego Medina, 32, of the 900 block of Orchard Street in Mundelein, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, having no insurance, passing on the shoulder and obstructing justice. His vehicle was stopped by police in the 2600 block of Skokie Valley Road, Highland Park. He was transported to Bond Court.

Criminal damage

Police are investigating criminal damage in which graffiti was left on a sign at Berkeley Road and Union Pacific East, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report of criminal damage in involved a window in the 400 block of Elm Place, Highland Park.

Police are investigating a report in which the windshield of a vehicle was damaged in the 1900 block of Burr Oaks Lane, Highland Park.

Police are investigating the report of a jewelry theft in the 400 block of Sheridan Road, Highland Park.

Police are investigating criminal damage to a fence in the 1700 block of Old Skokie Road, Highland Park.

Driving under the influence

Bernardo DeLeon Perez-Leguizano, 23, of the 700 block of May Street in Waukegan, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, improper lane usage and having no driver’s license. Police pulled over his vehicle in the 100 block of Edens Expressway, Highland Park. He was released on bond, and has a court date of Aug. 19.

Rade Strbac, 51, of the 3600 block of West Waveland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, having no insurance and negligent driving. Police pulled him over in the 100 block of Edens Expressway, Highland Park. Strbac was released on bond, and has a court date of Aug. 5.
