Waukegan Man Arrested For Driving 124 Mph While Intoxicated On Route 41 In Highland Park

Nathan A. Gonzalez, 18, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, reckless driving and speeding.

An 18-year-old man was arrested after police say he drove 124 mph on Route 41 in Highland Park while under the influence of alcohol Thursday evening.

Nathan A. Gonzalez, 18, of the 600 block of North Ash Street in Waukegan, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, reckless driving and speeding 35 mph or more over the limit.

Gonzalez was driving a vehicle northbound on Skokie Valley Road near Half Day Road in Highland Park around 10:45 p.m. Thursday.

A police report said that Gonzalez was stopped by police north of the intersection for speeding 124 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.

Officers determined that Gonzalez was also driving under the influence of alcohol, the report said.

He had a blood alcohol content above the legal limit.

Officers arrested Gonzalez and transported him to the Highland Park Police Department.

He was released from custody on a recognizance bond without needing to post a cash bond, police records show.

Gonzalez is scheduled to appear in court on April 22.
