Best of Craigslist: Motorized Airplane Ride; Ultimate Patriotic Blanket

Motorized Airplane Ride

Vroom! Vroom, putputputput, vroom! —oh, uh, hello there. I was just remembering being young enough to fit in a little toy airplane ride like this one going for $165 out of Downers Grove. Never spend quarters outside a supermarket anymore, just plug in the batteries! … Uh, do they still have those quarter rides outside supermarkets? I never see one anymore. What happened to those?

Ultimate Patriotic Blanket 

America, [expletive] yeah! Comin’ in here, to save the—well, you know how it goes. This very, very patriotic queen-sized blanket, going for $50 out of Darien, features a huge flag, a soaring eagle and a New York 9/11 fire engine. What a statement of pride in our country, a majestic testament to the American spirit! 100 percent American! Made in… Korea.

Six-Foot Tall Dolphin Statues

I call these guys Flipper and Ms. Flipper, and they are huge (six feet tall, 60-75 lbs each, about half the weight of an actual small bottlenose.) Ms. Flipper has a slight ding (a run-in with Free Willy, perhaps?) but they’re going for just $100 at a matched pair, out of Lemont. They used to hold glass tables, but now I think they’d look great as poolside décor.

American Airlines Bowling Ball 

With this ball, going for $30 out of Lemont, you can knock down pins the same way American Airlines knocks down… um, their own shareholders? (Cue cymbal clash, unless that reference is just too 2007.) This ball is in its original box, so you’ll still have to drill your own holes, just like American drills… you know what, let’s not push it.

Seeking 20-Something Rock Drummer

Let’s face it: a drum machine might work for your band in studio, but it looks kind of pathetic on a live stage, especially if you’re a bunch of 20-something heavily tattooed rockers rehearsing out of Hinsdale. (I admit, I don’t usually associate “heavily tattooed rockers” with “Hinsdale,” but, hey, learn something new every day.) Anyway, these hard-rockers have shows coming up and need a drummer stat; shoot ‘em a message if you think you’d fit. 

Thin .999 Silver Sheet (Combibar) 

For $185, you can get this 100 grams of silver in a super-thin sheet called a “combibar” from this Downers Grove seller, and, if you are so inclined, break it up into 100 one-gram “minibars,” which is different from what I usually picture when someone says “minibar.” Of particular interest: our seller, Jason, says he will “entertain trades for FOID/ammo,” which, unless FOID no longer means “firearm owner’s identification,” is seriously not legal?
