CLARENDON HILLS, IL – The Starbucks in Clarendon Hills is planning to close Monday, the restaurant confirmed.

The Seattle-based corporation has not returned messages about the closure. In January, the village revealed the restaurant's plan.

Clarendon Hills lawyer Taps Gallagher said he tried to stop the company from closing the restaurant at 100 Park Ave.

"I'm disappointed in Starbucks," he said in an interview. "You can't tell me they weren't making any money. A remodel would have been a knockout. We've done everything to keep them here."

On April 1, Gallagher, who has lived in the village for more than four decades, mailed a letter to Starbucks' new CEO, Laxman Narasimhan. He noted Narasimhan revealed plans to visit locations around the country.

Gallagher invited the executive to come to Clarendon Hills.

"With the influx of young families with children, this location is a central meeting place for seniors, working people and students of all ages," Gallagher wrote. "In addition, funds are available from the village and owner to help offset the cost of renovation."

Gallagher told Patch that the company did not take him up on the offer to visit.

"Shame on them for not coming out here," the lawyer said.

In 2021, Business Insider reported that Starbucks is focusing on restaurants with drive-thrus. The Clarendon Hills location does not have one.

About 75 percent of Starbucks' U.S. sales volume involves drive-thru and mobile orders.
