Community Meeting Planned for Train Station Area Planning Project

The village of Clarendon Hills will review concept plans and ideas for the project on March 14.

Clarendon Hills will host a community meeting to review concept plans and ideas for the redevelopment of the train station area in downtown Clarendon Hills. The meeting will be at 7 p.m. on March 14 at Prospect School.

The train station area was identified as a key area for redevelopment in the village's Downtown Plan, which was approved in 2006 following public input. The Train Station Area Redevelopment Planning process is aimed to identify opportunities for the site in the future. The planning process is made possible through a grant from the Regional Transportation Authority and matching funds provided by the West Suburban Mass Transit District.

At the March 14 community meeting, residents, business owners and others interested in the project will have the opportunity to review concept plans prepared by the village's planning consultant Houseal Lavigne Associations, and ask questions and provide comments. The input will then be incorporated into a draft plan that will be considered by the village's Plan Commission and then forwarded to the village board for final consideration.

The purpose of the Train Station Area Redevelopment Plan is to identify opportunities at the train station site and help to guide future investment there. The plan also will help the village identify interested private develoopers and potential revenue sources for public portions of the final plan.
